Sending your Loved One Home

Transportation of The Deceased

Local Brisbane Transfer

When a funeral is conducted in Brisbane it’s our policy that Tony Hollands Funerals does not have an extra transfer fee from a nursing home, private home or hospital, either during or after business hours.

Other funeral directors charge as high as $600 after-hours and can even charge extra for a transfer during business hours. We don’t believe a family should be penalised if a person passes away after-hours, so if you contact another funeral director for a quote, check if they have any of these fees.

Bringing Your Loved One Home: Interstate & International Repatriation Services

Expert Guidance for Complex Journeys

When your loved one needs to travel their final journey across state lines or international borders, you shouldn’t have to navigate the complex paperwork and regulations alone. Repatriation is the careful process of transferring your oved one’s body or ashes to their final destination, and with over 30 years of experience, we’ll handle every detail with the respect and precision your family deserves.

We work directly with government bodies, consulates, transport companies, and receiving funeral directors to ensure your loved one arrives safely where they belong.

Traveling with Cremated Remains

Taking Ashes on Your Flight

If you’re personally transporting your loved one’s ashes, we’ll help you understand exactly what documentation you need. Most countries accept a sealed cremation urn with a cremation certificate and statutory declaration from the crematorium. We recommend carrying the ashes as hand luggage, it’s easier to show customs officials and eliminates the risk of airline mishandling.

Professional Ash Transportation Services

Prefer to have us handle the transport? We coordinate with trusted freight companies to ensure your loved one’s ashes reach their destination safely. Our team will:

  • Handle all legal requirements and paperwork
  • Coordinate with freight companies on your behalf
  • Ensure respectful, secure transport that honours your loved one

Important Travel Considerations

Not all destinations accept cremated remains. Some countries maintain embargos or restrictions that prevent ashes from entering their borders. We’ll research the specific requirements for your destination and let you know if transport is possible before making any arrangements.
