Our caring and compassionate staff understands that arranging a funeral for your child is one of the most difficult tasks a parent and other family members will ever have to undertake.
Holding a Funeral Service for your Baby/Infant is a beautiful, personal way of saying goodbye.
It allows you and your family the opportunity to honour and to pay tribute to your baby’s life in a way that is unique and significant to you.
It’s important to say goodbye to assist in facilitating your grieving and to provide an opportunity for your healing to begin.
You are legally required to register the death and Cremate or Bury in Queensland if your baby was born at 20 weeks gestation or over. A funeral service can be organised and attended by you or, you can organise an unattended funeral. If you have a miscarriage before 20 weeks gestation, you can choose to still hold a service if you wish, however, it is not a legal requirement to register.
As Funeral Directors, we will assist you with holding a funeral service . You will need to decide whether you want to have your baby buried or cremated, to have a service in a Chapel, Church or at the Graveside. You will also need to decide whether a Minister or Funeral Celebrant will be conducting the service. Once you have decided on the above, you will need to decide whether you will be holding a viewing/dressing of your baby and whether this is a private ceremony or one to invite your family and friends.

During this time, you remain in control of every decision. Whether you know exactly how you would honour your child or need gentle guidance along the way, we are here to support you, ease the burden of practical arrangements, and help make an incredibly difficult time just a little softer and more manageable.
There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye
- Spending time with your baby or have family come and meet them.
- Having photo's taken of your baby or photo's together as family.
- You can read some special words during the service, either yourself or have a friend or family member do this for you.
- Placing a toy, poem, letter etc with your baby.
- Flowers for the Coffin ( Flower Casket Spray ).
- Releasing doves or butterflies.
- Hand & foot print casts.
- Choose a special song to play during the service ie: "Live Among Angels".
- Take a photo/video recording of the service.
- Light candles.
- Order of Service book for your babies funeral service or a memorial card.
- A special cremation urn to place your babies ashes in (please see brochure).
- A memorial book for family and friends to write messages in.
- Holding a wake or having refreshments after the service.

Can We Have A Service If Our Baby Is Under 20 Weeks Gestation?
Yes. Every baby is precious, and every family deserves the opportunity to acknowledge and honour the life of their baby in a way that feels meaningful to them.
While there are different legal requirements depending on gestation, this does not mean you cannot create a special farewell.
Many families find comfort in having a private moment, a small gathering, a naming ceremony, or a service where they can say goodbye, share their love, and acknowledge the place their baby holds within their family.

Can I Spend Time With My Baby?
Yes. We believe families should have the opportunity to spend precious time with their baby, in a way that feels right for them.
At Tony Hollands Funerals, we have created a personalised viewing room designed as a peaceful nursery, providing a warm and private space where families can simply be together.
You may choose to hold your baby, dress them, bathe them, read them a story, sing to them, or tuck them in with a special blanket or keepsake.
Families are welcome to visit as often as they would like (Just give us a call), allowing time to create memories, say goodbye and spend those precious moments together.
Our caring team will support you through this time, ensuring you and your family feel comfortable, respected, and gently guided every step of the way.
Can Brothers and Sisters Be Involved?
Yes. We believe siblings should be given the opportunity to be involved in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful.
Children often experience grief differently to adults, and being included can help them understand their loss, express their feelings, and maintain a connection with their brother or sister.
There are many gentle ways siblings can be involved, including drawing pictures, writing letters, creating special messages, choosing a keepsake, or decorating the coffin with artwork and personal touches. These meaningful gestures allow children to express their love and create lasting memories of the special bond they share.
We also share the story The Invisible String with families, which helps children understand the love and connection remains, even when someone they love is no longer with them. To make this idea tangable, we can provide a ribbon that represents this special connection. The ribbon can be held by the child during their goodbye, then either gently cut as a symbolic farewell or placed with their sibling as a lasting reminder of the love they share.

The prices below are provided as a guide only and are estimates based on some of the most common options families choose.
Our caring team will take the time to explain everything clearly and provide a personalised estimate based on your wishes.
Cremation Only Options
All cremation-only options include our professional service fee and cremation permit. Where applicable, an Official Death Certificate is also included.

Burial Options
For families who choose a burial service at Centenary Memorial Gardens, the additional costs will depend on the grave location selected and the cemetery fees at the time. These costs are arranged directly with the cemetery and will vary depending on your individual requirements.
Chapel hire is estimated at $470.
