Funeral Arrangements

When it comes to organising a funeral, there are many factors to consider. Whether you’ve
pre-planned the details or are looking for guidance with funeral options, Tony Hollands Funerals can help you with everything you need. We offer a comprehensive and personalised funeral service and will make sure all your needs are met.

Organising a funeral can be broken down into three sections

1. Information for legal documents gathered
2. Funeral service details discussed and organised
3. Funeral service conducted

1. Information gathered at the funeral arrangements

You are legally required to register the death with the Births, Deaths and Marriages. We also gather information for cremation paperwork or a burial application. From this information, proof of identity is made, government statistics compiled, genealogical statistics collected, the death is registered and, if requested, a Registered Death Certificate is issued.
This information includes:
  • Name, sex, and address
  • Date of birth and date of death
  • Place of birth and place of death
  • Occupation during working life
  • If the deceased was born overseas, when the deceased first arrived in Australia
  • Was the deceased of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin
  • Marital status and marriage details
  • Details about the deceased’s spouse, parents and children, including any maiden names
  • Cause of death
  • Duration of last illness
  • Certifying medical attendant
  • Date the deceased was last seen by a medical attendant
  • Date and place of burial or cremation

2. Organising the details of the funeral service

When you’re organising a funeral service, there are many things to consider.
These include:
  • Whether you choose burial or cremation
  • Selecting a church, chapel, or garden service
  • Choosing a minister or celebrant
  • Viewing and/or dressing
  • Choosing the casket/coffin type
  • Arranging floral tributes or donations
  • Preparing death and/or funeral notices
  • Choosing a Cremation Urn (if required)
There are a number of other questions that will be asked, including information relating to pallbearers, catering, and music or hymns. As you can see, there are a lot of decisions that go into funeral arrangements, so it’s wise to think about them early.

3. The funeral service

This is the point where all the decisions that you’ve made are put into place and are attended to in a timely and dignified manner. During the funeral, our staff will attend to all details, so you don’t have to worry or be distracted. It’s our aim to give our clients the very best care and personal attention possible.
