Transportation of the deceased

Tony Hollands Funerals make arrangements for local, regional, interstate, and international transfers of deceased when needed.

Local Brisbane Transfer

When a funeral is conducted in Brisbane it’s our policy that Tony Hollands Funerals does not have an extra transfer fee from a nursing home, private home or hospital, either during or after business hours.

Other funeral directors charge as high as $600 after-hours and can even charge extra for a transfer during business hours. We don’t believe a family should be penalised if a person passes away after-hours, so if you contact another funeral director for a quote, check if they have any of these fees.

Interstate-Overseas Deceased Transfers.

What is Repatriation?

Repatriation is the process of transferring a deceased body or cremated remains, either Interstate or Internationally. Tony Hollands has over 30 years of experience with repatriation and his staff will guide you through every step of the process to ensure the safe arrival of the deceased. We will liaise with relevant government bodies, including the Consulate, transfer companies and the nominated Funeral Director.

Transportation of Ashes:

If the cremation has taken place and the ashes are to be taken to another country, you’ll need to check with the airline and the consulate as to what legal requirements must be met. In most cases, a sealed cremation urn with a cremation certificate and a statutory declaration supplied by the crematorium is sufficient. At Tony Hollands Funerals, we advise you take the remains as hand luggage so it’s easier to show Customs. It is also less likely that they will be misplaced.

When cremation takes place in Brisbane and you wish for the ashes of the deceased to travel to another location, Tony Hollands Funerals can assist in the repatriation of the cremated remains both Domestically and Internationally.

  • We will liaise with Freight companies on your behalf,
  • We will ensure all legal requirements are met,
  • We will ensure all paperwork is completed to send the ashes safely and with the respect deserved.

Please note : Ashes cannot be transferred to all destinations in the world. Some Countries may have an Embargo, meaning they won’t allow ashes or other packages into the country. A Funeral Director will advise you if the ashes will be accepted into the country or not.

Transferring a Deceased body within Australia:

When someone dies Interstate and you wish for the Funeral to take place in Brisbane, call Tony Hollands Funerals and one of our arrangers will be able to assist you.

  • We will liaise with transfer companies on your behalf,
  • We will contact Hospitals or Funeral Directors who hold the deceased in their care.
  • We will make all arrangements with the applicant (The person making all the decisions and signing our paperwork).

  • We will liaise with transfer companies (Both Road Transport or air transport) to transfer the deceased safely and with the respect deserved.

Transferring a Deceased body Internationally:
